UCL School of Pharmacy ran its very first Postdoctoral Research and Careers Day on the 14th July 2017 organised by the Early Career Researchers' Group (SOP ECR).
The event was inaugurated and chaired by Professor Kirsten Harvey, also chair of the SOP ECR committee, followed by a talk from Professor Sara Mole from the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology. It was a one-day event subdivided into morning and evening sessions.
The event proved to be very enlightening encouraging included presentations from postdoctoral researchers across various related disciplines of early career researchers including School of Life and Medical Sciences, talk on career development from invited speakers giving researchers tips on how to make it into various fields including the pharmaceutical industry, entrepreneurship, medical writing and research fellowships.
It was an successful amalgamation of a poster session, an exhibition by industrial sponsors, and a “research as art” photo competition. This was followed by the selection of the Winner of the Best Talk, chosen by a panel of judges, and Best Photo, voted for by the attendees. The winners were presented with their prizes at the end.
