UCL School of Pharmacy academics and alumni recognised as world’s most influential researchers

Professors Abdul Basit, Simon Gaisford, Michael Heinrich and Dr. Alvaro Goyanes have been recognised among the world’s top 0.1% of researchers.
Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2024 list recognises individuals with significant and wide-ranging influence in their research fields. Through rigorous selection criteria and comprehensive analysis, the list highlights researchers whose exceptional contributions are shaping the future of science, technology, and academia globally. The recognition honours researchers whose work ranks in the top 1% by citations in their field, placing them among the top 0.1% of scientists in the world. For the sixth year running, UCL School of Pharmacy academics Abdul Basit, Simon Gaisford, and Alvaro Goyanes have been awarded the highly cited designation for their exceptional research contributions. Michael Heinrich also appears on this year’s list. Recent Basit Research Group alumni Atheer Awad, Sarah Trenfield, and Fabrizio Fina also return to the list, while Christine Madla joins this distinguished lineup for the first time. This achievement reflects the outstanding contributions of the School of Pharmacy researchers in advancing pharmaceutical sciences and driving innovation.
