Student Report: Team from UCL wins ULLA Cup at 2021 ULLA Summer School

12 July 2021

ULLA was founded in 1992 as a European Consortium for (postgraduate) training in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. ULLA takes the name from the cities of its founding universities, namely Uppsala, London, Leiden and Amsterdam.

The primary aim of the ULLA network is to enhance collaboration within education and research in the pharmaceutical sciences between the member universities. One of its main activities is the summer school for PhD students, which happens every other year. This year's was organised by Uppsala University, Sweden.

The ULLA Summer Schools consist of a symposium on the opening day followed by 2-3 day programme of academic courses that cover a broad range of research areas in pharmaceutical sciences. In addition to the academic programme, the ULLA Summer Schools are also known for their strong social activities.

Due to the uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 ULLA Summer School was replaced by an online event for PhD students from 6-8 July, and was organised by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Uppsala University. One of the social activities was the ULLA Cup. Each university competed as one team and the big question on everyone's mind was “Who will win the prestigious ULLA Cup 2021?”. There was a quiz that had general knowledge questions and we needed our mental batteries to be fully charged.  The questions were about music, movies, emojis and other general knowledge topics. This year the team from UCL won the ULLA CUP after a fierce competition.

Congratulations to all!
