28 January 2021

The Pharmaceutical Journal, with the support of the RPS, has recognised UCL alumna and budding entrepreneur, Priyanka Mehta, as one of their twelve Women to Watch 2020.

“A pharmacist with great vision. Her initiative has the potential to support pharmacists in a career pathway not chosen by many. Already she is supporting the next generation of pharmacists and is working tirelessly to make a significant contribution to the profession” - Panel Comment, Women to Watch 2020

Priyanka Mehta graduated from the UCL School of Pharmacy in 2016 and completed her pre-registration placement in community pharmacy in 2017. After qualifying, her passion for the pharmaceutical industry and vision led her to co-found a start-up generic pharmaceutical company, AMPM Pharma, with her sister, Ambika Mehta.

Whilst working for AMPM Pharma, Priyanka simultaneously rejoined UCL to undertake the Q3P course and realise her dream of becoming a Qualified Person (QP). She did not stop there. Priyanka developed an interactive website, Road to QP, which is launching in 2021; she realised that the QP profession is not a well known career path for the next generation of pharmacists and therefore, she set out to help raise awareness of the profession and facilitate the journey of other candidates in becoming a QP.

It is not a surprise that her achievements thus far have been acknowledged by The Pharmaceutical Journal, in collaboration with the RPS, in Women to Watch 2020, an initiative which was designed to help shatter the glass ceiling and acknowledge the achievements of outstanding women in the pharmaceutical industry.

Priyanka is a true advocate for women and has always taken the time to help elevate others. At present, she is a supervisor, together with Ambika, for UCL MPharm students who are undertaking their industrial placements with AMPM Pharma. As well as inspiring students through the projects she leads, Priyanka regularly returns to UCL to give careers talks.

“Priyanka is passionate about sharing her career pathway with others and I was particularly impressed by the opportunities she has created for MSc students to be involved in her business” - Panel Comment, Women to Watch 2020

Priyanka’s determination and perseverance has meant that she has been successful in her endeavours, always finding another route to her end-goal no matter what her hurdles have been. The growth of AMPM Pharma is a space to watch in the forthcoming years.
