Better Pandemic Preparedness

The Todd group is part of a major international collaboration funded by the National Institutes of Health looking at ways to discover new antiviral drugs for the next pandemic, so that we are all better prepared. Using starting points derived from small molecule screens, we will use computational and synthetic chemistry to develop new drug leads operating with novel mechanisms of action. The collaboration is tasked with generating compounds able to enter Phase 1 trials within 5 years. All the medicinal chemistry will be carried out open source, meaning we will be part of a worldwide collaborative effort. You can read about some of the work we've been doing on SARS-CoV-2 Nsp13.
