EPSRC/PharmAlliance PhD Studentship in Drug Discovery at the UCL School of Pharmacy

Project description
The studentship will be in the area of drug discovery (in certain areas that are strategic to the School of Pharmacy, for example AMR and pandemic preparedness), to be hosted by a Principal Investigator in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy. The successful applicant will be able to nominate their supervisor and project preferences.  For the research interests of current staff in the area of drug discovery please see this page.

The student will have the opportunity to spend a period of time (up to 12 months) in the laboratory of a PI carrying out related research at either Monash University (Australia) or the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (USA).

If you have any queries about the project, please contact Prof Matthew Todd at matthew.todd@ucl.ac.uk

Main methods and techniques
The methods and techniques employed will depend on the project chosen but will be broadly based on methods involved in drug discovery, for example organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, protein expression and purification, structural analysis of biological molecules and computational modelling.
