  • Go to https://nomad.cs.ucl.ac.uk and click the user button to log in. You can access the NOMAD server from anywhere on the UCL network.

  • Click Book New Job in the top right corner

  • Select the 400 MHz spectrometer from the drop down list, and specify how many samples you wish to set up. Click Book Slots.

  • Scroll down to see the slots you have been allocated. Beside each, populate the Solvent, Title (sample name) and Experiment (parameter set) fields.

    • If you wish to change any specific parameters e.g. number of scans, click Edit under Parameters and enter any new values you wish into the appropriate fields. The default values are shown.

    • You can run additional experiments on a sample by clicking the + symbol under ExpNo.

    • The experiment time for each experiment is shown under ExpT, with an estimated total experimental time for the sample (including sample changeover and setup) shown beneath.

  • When you have filled in all the relevant fields, click Continue to add these experiments to the Pending list.

  • The home screen will be shown. After a short delay, your experiments will be visible in the Pending Holders list (yellow icon in top left). At this stage you must load your samples into the autosampler.

  • When your samples are loaded, open the Pending list and select your samples, then click Submit. You will be asked to verify your password at this stage.
