Job description

UCL History is recruiting Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (SPGTAs) for some of its undergraduate survey modules in 2025-26.

Details of the available modules are provided below and in the attached PDF. 

Key responsibilities

• Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
• Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
• After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
• Marking students' work;
• Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

Candidates should be registered for a PhD, have relevant skills and knowledge appropriate to the module.  They should possess the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with students, academic and support staff at all levels; proficient with online teaching platforms, notably Moodle; ability to tutor and support year 1 and 2 undergraduate students on the relevant modules.
