Job description
The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) and BSc Science and Engineeirng for Social Change modules, working with the academic modules leads through the delivery of marking and small group teaching for students taking modules in the STEaPP Department.
Main duties of the post could include (where applicable) tutorial class teaching, regular meetings with the module leads, provision of feedback to students, provision of weekly office hours, attendance reporting, coursework assessment and examination marking.
Teaching Assistants will be given training in support of their roles.
PGTAs are expected to be able to commit be present on the Bloomsbury or UCL East campus during the terms for which teaching is allocated.
Key responsibilities
- Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
- Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
- After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
- Giving feedback to students;
- Marking students' work
Requirements for role
- High level of literacy and numeracy
- Specialist skills appropriate to the module taught
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel, email, and the internet
- Working towards a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD)
- Strong communication skills
