PGTA - Natural Sciences (Science Communication)

Job description

In this second year Natural Sciences module, students learn the theory and practice of Science Communication, with an emphasis on communication with interdisciplinary and non-specialist audiences. The Postgraduate Teaching Assistant (PGTA) will work with the module lead to support learning and assessment on this module, particularly through the development and delivery of small-group teaching.

During Term 1, the PGTA will plan and facilitate face-to-face seminar sessions. They will be responsible for leading discussions and providing support and feedback as students develop ideas for their assessed groupwork, a short science-themed podcast. The PGTA will also attend lectures and help facilitate interactive activities.Towards the end of Term 1, the PGTA will assist the module lecturer with assessing two assignments and providing written feedback to students.
