Job description
The UCL Institute for Materials Discovery (IMD) is based within the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS), which encompasses the logical, experimental, and mathematical study of our universe. IMD focuses on research related to state-of-the-art materials design and discovery and is home to a successful Advanced Materials Science Master’s programme.

The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning for the MSc students undertaking the MSc Advanced Materials Science programmes at IMD, focusing on the laboratory-based activities taking place at the teaching Wet Lab (room 712), Marshgate building, UCL East, Stratford.

Key responsibilities
- Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
- Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
- After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
- Laboratory demonstration;
- Marking students' work;
- Giving feedback to students
Requirements for role
- Educated to Master’s degree level (or having equivalent experience), in a Materials Science and Engineering related field;
- Working towards a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD);
- Interest in materials processing and characterisation;
- Good working knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel, E-mail, and the internet and ease of learning software used with many devices used in the lab.
