Job description

The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our modules, working with the academic programme leads through the delivery of teaching for students taking modules in the Bartlett Development Planning Unit.

Main duties of the post are: provide technical support and assistance with Moodle and other online teaching and learning tools; input into the development of teaching material, but this should involve minimal academic research; the provision of formative feedback to students; the attendence of regular meetings with DPU staff; and assisting in monitoring student participation in online and live teaching and learning activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
  • Dissertation co-supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s);
  • Marking students' work;
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

  • Educated to Masters degree level (or having equivalent experience), in a related field;
  • Working towards a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD)
  • High level of literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent working knowledge of a range of software including Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom, email, Moodle and the internet
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with students, academic and support staff at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment
  • Ability to provide clear, well-informed advice and support to students
  • Ability to work independently for short periods and as part of a team, recognising when advice / input needs to be sought
  • A high level of accuracy and a keen attention to detail
