Job description
The PGTA will support teaching and learning in our modules, working with the academic modules leads through the delivery of small group teaching for students taking modules in the Department of CCM.
Main duties of the post are tutorial class teaching, regular meetings with the course lecturer, provision of feedback to students, provision of weekly office hours, attendance reporting, coursework assessment and examination marking. Teaching Assistants will be given training in support of their roles.
In this post you will:
- Provide support to the module leads on our BA programme.
- Design and prepare teaching material within the overall module framework.
- Support with marking duties on allocated modules.
- Support the module lead in the weekly seminars and Moodle resources of the allocated modules.

Key responsibilities
- Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
- Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
- After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
- Giving feedback to students;
- Marking students' work
Requirements for role
You will be working towards a PhD in a social sciences subject (on completion of the PhD, you will no longer be eligible to participate in this PGTA scheme.
In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, in particular oral communication and an enthusiasm for teaching.
