Job description

  • Develop and deliver weekly small-group class/seminar teaching on the module.
  • Supervise students’ independent research projects.
  • Gain experience of formative and summative assessment (marking, moderation, feedback).
  • Assist with supporting student learning through office hours and tutorials.
  • Be provided with opportunities to devise and deliver a lecture/lectures (based, for instance, on intersections between course content and research interests).

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
  • Dissertation co-supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s);
  • Marking students' work;
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

We are seeking a candidate with interests broadly related to History and/or Politics, who is currently undertaking postgraduate research at UCL. Applicants should have an undergraduate and/or master’s degree in History, Politics or International Relations. This is a career-development role, intended to provide valuable experience for a postgraduate student (enrolled at UCL/IoE), while allowing adequate time and flexibility to pursue their research.
