Jamie Ross - Post-doctoral Fellow

Jamie Ross

Dr Ross’ previously worked in the e-health unit at UCL as a Research Associate on an NIHR programme grant to develop, evaluate and implement a web-based self-managed programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes, HeLP-Diabetes. In this role Jamie was responsible for developing a complex web based intervention underpinned by theory and evidence and which was developed through a process of participatory design and qualitative research.

Alongside this role Jamie completed her PhD at UCL which explored the implementation of HeLP-Diabetes within NHS services. As part of this PhD work she implemented HeLP-Diabetes within two NHS trusts in London and evaluated the implementation using a mixed methods case study design. HeLP-Diabetes is now being implemented within GP practices across the UK and used by patients.

Her main research interests include self-management of long term conditions and the development evaluation and implementation of e-health, since completing her PhD; she has secured funding from the NIHR School for Primary Care Research to undertake post-doctoral fellowship exploring the low uptake of diabetes self-management education by people with type 2 diabetes.

As part of her interest in the field of implementation she convenes a pan London implementation meeting to bring together researchers with similar interests. Jamie also acts in an advisory capacity on a number of programme grants from a range of disciplines and is a tutor on the UCL Qualitative Research Methods Course.
