BA Medal for Noam Chomsky

Chomsky Podium 1

On 26 November 2014, Noam Chomsky was in London for the British Academy event, "In Conversation with Noam Chomsky", where he received the Neil and Saras Medal for lifetime achievement in the scholarly study of linguistics. Chomsky was awarded the medal "in recognition of his immense scholarly contribution in the field which has profoundly changed the way linguists think about language."

The award was established by Professor Neil Smith, elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1999 and Emeritus Professor of Linguistics at University College London, in 2013. This prize was awarded for the first time in 2014.

At the event, Chomsky gave a talk about linguistics and was then interviewed about his political work
