Teaching resources created by the Speech Lab: Pause Analysis
It has been suggested that pauses in speech occur at major syntactic boundaries. We are interested to see if this is the case in spontaneous speech. We are also interested in whether other linguistic factors such as phonological word boundaries predict pauses.
The "step by step guide to pause analysis" is designed to show how we annotated our SFS files to enable us to carry out this analysis.
