Victor Btesh

I am a PhD student in Prof. Dave Lagnado’s Causal Cognition Lab. My research focuses on causal structure learning in dynamical systems using a mixture of computational modelling and behavioural data. Basically, I study the cognitive processes by which people learn about how the world works. Such processes are ubiquitous in daily life as we constantly must infer, using only sparse data, the inner workings of our environment to properly navigate it. While it has a been a long-standing field of study, we still know little about how people fare in systems that generate data in continuous time and/or have complex causal structures, such as feedback loops. Another interest of mine is to better understand how domain-specific prior knowledge is mobilised across contexts and to what extent it affects the learning process.

I am also a demonstrator for the Psychological Science MSc.
