Nilay Ateşyakar

I am currently working on a project designed to assess the neural encoding processes underlying memory and flexible navigation in rats. We pursue to assess the activity of spatially sensitive neurons in rats’ brains, called place cells, during the completion of a complex behavioural task, which requires hippocampal-dependent navigation. I am particularly interested in how the sequences of place cell activity in dorsal hippocampus may contribute to goal-directed navigation.
