My research is concerned with how the interaction between language and emotion influences cognitive processes and behavior. In particular, I am interested in the role emotion plays in the acquisition and performance of language skills, such as professional translation and interpreting or learning a foreign language, and in identifying ways of using emotion to enhance performance in these skills. In my research, I address questions such as can emotion make it easier for us to acquire new vocabulary? How does emotion influence the process of translating between two languages? Can emotion be employed to facilitate the work of professional translators and interpreters, working as multilingual communicators in international contexts?
