The aim of our research is to understand how and why emotional problems like depression develop in young people. Our projects at UCL have been funded by The British Academy, The Medical Research Council and The Nuffield Foundation. Much of our work aims to identify risk and protective factors through longitudinal research. Recent research has focused on individual differences in processing emotional information as well as the relationship between young people's psychological well-being and their attainment at school. We also explore the interplay between genetic and environmental factors on children and young people’s emotions and behaviour.
