Group Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy for depression

Welcome to the competence statements for Group CBT for depression. This page gives open access to the listing of competences, which must be read as a subset of the CBT competence framework (available on this site).

The listings assume that a group leader delivering group CBT for depression would have been trained to a level that confers a recognised registration / accreditation in CBT, as required by national/service standards. As such they would be conversant with and appropriately trained in CBT for depression.

For example, in English IAPT services the requirement is to have undertaken accredited IAPT CBT training and achieved individual BABCP accreditation OR achieved individual BABCP accreditation through training and experience with adults with anxiety and depression.
