Dr Dimitrios Tsivrikos is a Consumer and Business psychologist at UCL, credited for being a pioneer in establishing the field of consumer psychology in the UK. His research, teaching, consultancy and media work specialises in Consumer, Business and Organisational Psychology. He is a director of MSc Industrial, Organisational and Business Psychology course, and is also leading UCL’s Executive Programme in Behavioural Science.
Dr Tsivrikos’ research addresses a number of behavioural challenges. He has published on organisational topics involving personality and employee engagement, as well as on consumer topics relating to group identity, social norms, emotions, etc. In the past two years, Dr Tsivrikos, together with his MSc and PhD students, has focused on understanding climate change challenges, and has published on the psychology of eco-friendly behaviours. Currently he and his PhD student, Ms Laura Zaikauskaite, co-lead a newly formed research hub called Eco Lab, which has received Gold Green Impact Award (2020) for interdisciplinary excellence in advancing the understanding of why people choose (not) to be eco-friendly.
Dr Tsivrikos is a media commentator for the BBC, Sky News, Channel 4 and Channel 5, etc., and a regular scientific consultant for The Guardian, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, Vice and Esquire. He is often asked to share views on current consumer affairs, including reactions to the current COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on consumer habits (see below). Dr Tsivrikos has consulted top multinational companies, such as Goldman Sachs, Unilever, Salesforce, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, NHS, Volvo, Samsung, Burberry, to name a few.
