REF 2014 - Impact Case Studies

The impacts of research in the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences have been recognised
in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.There are fourteen impact case studies from the Division:
- Evidence for best practice within NHS Stop Smoking Services
- Mentalization-based therapy: improving treatment for patients with borderline personality disorders
- Cognitive Stimulation Therapy – a new therapy for dementia
- Invention and commercial development of diagnostic tests of frontal lobe function
- The Trauma Screening Questionnaire: improving the management of the psychological consequences of disasters and terrorism
- Using attachment research to improve the lives of vulnerable young children
- Improving the validity of autism spectrum disorder assessment
- Increasing public awareness of and informing policy on the effects of recreational drug use
- Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue): improving outcomes in business, education, and other life settings
- Identifying the evidence base to support psychological interventions for schizophrenia
- Creating neuropsychological assessments and services for Deaf patients with neurological impairments
- Bringing evidence-based practice to psychological therapy
