Understanding the Programme Structure
MRes Speech, Language & Cognition is a research-focused programme which requires significant self direction; as a result of this freedom it can be difficult to grasp the structure of the degree and how the different parts of the degree work.
The main difference between the MRes programme and an MA or MSc programme is that there is a much greater focus on the Research Project component and less formal teaching. However, you will complete some more structured modules as you complete the programme. Selecting this teaching can seem a little daunting, there is a lot of flexibility and it's easy to be a little overwhelmed by the range of modules on offer.
You should already have a broad awareness of the structure of your degree programme on the programme website, but let's take a more general look at the way the programme is made up and how you will choose the modules you want to follow in 2017/18.
