Both neuroscience and cognitive modeling have converged on accumulation of evidence models to understand perceptual decision making. Our work bridges these two levels of understanding. Our work has used neural data to constrain cognitive models, used cognitive models to predict neural data, and connected abstract cognitive models with mechanisms taking places at the level of individual neurons and ensembles of neurons.
