Professional background

Doctor Stefan Adrian Vöö is Consultant/medical specialist at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine, University College London Hospital (UCLH).

He earned his medical degree and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Temeschburg and University of Ulm, Germany. After completing a Ph.D. in clinical immunology and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of Maastricht, he underwent higher specialist training at the Maastricht University Medical Centre, Maastricht, the Netherlands where he continued working as consultant.

His translational research has examined the role of circulating progenitor cells and other different cellular immune mechanisms involved in myocardial healing and inflammatory vascular pathology. After clinical observerships in molecular imaging and therapy at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston and University Clinic Zürich, he has developed expertise in diagnostic imaging in cardiovascular, inflammatory/immunological diseases and oncology.

Stefan joined UCLH in 2017 where he works in a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality and timely care to oncologic patients and patients with complex inflammatory disorders.

Stefan is currently involved in clinical research projects aiming to identify vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques and in implementing new imaging protocols for the diagnosis of large- and middle-sized vessel vasculitis. Within the highly professional multidisciplinary UCLH family, he aims in developing new immune-based imaging modalities in the evaluation of rheumatological as well as Non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients.

He is also actively involved in teaching and education, contributing to the preparation and delivery of courses aimed at medical registrars in radiology, nuclear medicine, internal medicine and medical specialist training at the Royal Society of Medicine, London.
