Public and Patient Involvement

The Institute of Nuclear Medicine has invested in involving patients, carers and the public in our research by soliciting their help in reviewing research

Proposals, patient facing documents such as patient information sheets and consent forms; attending research meetings and advising on public engagement events; helping to promote and run public engagement events.

The Nuclear Medicine department has worked extensively with a patient ‘lay panel’ to develop patient information films for information prior to PET/CT & PET/MRI. The development of these films was described for a journal article published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology, in which the patient’s involvement was acknowledged. These films are available to patients identified as eligible for particular research studies, to increase recruitment and to potentially improve the experience of participation.

The films can be found on the @UCL_INM you tube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGNXkh126O9aZbVVsRR0-UA and our paper regarding their development is available here http://tech.snmjournals.org/content/46/1/26.abstract?sid=2ca858a0-f620-4bf5-b759-f82008fed67a
