Lois Lee | Project leader

Lois is co-director of UCL SSS, and a Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies. She is founding director of the Nonreligion and Secularity Research Network (NSRN) and co-editor of Secularism and Nonreligion and of the De Gruyter-NSRN book series, Religion and Its Others: Studies in Religion, Nonreligion and Secularity. 

Lois is project leader of the The Scientific Study of Nonreligious Belief (SSNB) project and Understanding Unbelief (UU) programme. 


Stephen Bullivant | Project co-leader

Stephen is a Visiting Fellow at UCL SSS at the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies, and Senior Lecturer in Theology and Ethics and Director of the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society at St Mary's University, Twickenham

Stephen is co-leader of the The Scientific Study of Nonreligious Belief (SSNB) project and of the Understanding Unbelief (UU) programme. 


Jonathan Lanman | Project co-leader

Jonathan is Assistant Director of the Institute of Cognition & Culture, and Lecturer in Anthropology at Queen's University Belfast. His research aims to utilize the tools of both cognitive and social anthropology to examine religion, atheism, morality, and intergroup relations.

Jonathan is co-leader of the The Scientific Study of Nonreligious Belief (SSNB) project and of the Understanding Unbelief (UU) programme.


Miguel Farias | Project consultant 

Miguel leads the Brain, Belief and Behaviour group at Coventry University. He has previously been a lecturer at Oxford University where he also did his doctorate in experimental psychology. His major research interests are the psychobiological roots of beliefs and the effects of spiritual practices. 

Miguel is project consultant of the The Scientific Study of Nonreligious Belief (SSNB) project and project co-leader on the Understanding Unbelief (UU) programme.
