Students take over @uclengineering on Instagram

Do you follow @uclengineering on Instagram? Next week, five second and third year UCL Engineering students will take over the channel in order to showcase How to Change the World, an intensive two-week training programme that sees second year engineering students tackle real-world problems in interdisciplinary teams.  

A flagship part of the Integrated Engineering Programme - an award-winning, innovative teaching framework implemented by most of the undergraduate programmes in the UCL Faculty of Engineering Sciences - How to Change the World also gives students the opportunity to work with industry partners (such as Motorola Solutions, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and BRE). The programme will culminate in an Innovation Showcase, where students present their solutions to an expert panel in the prestigious surroundings of County Hall, opposite the Palace of Westminster on London's Southbank.

When good grades no longer cut it, the IEP framwork adds the skills and experiences that differentiates myself from everyone else; no longer am I just a face in the crowd to future employers.

Why did you want to be part of the #htctwTakeover? 
Living in a more socially connected world, the importance of social media presence is becoming a huge consideration in industry. I wanted to be part of the takeover because it will challenge me and give direct experience in this emerging field.

Why do you want to be an engineer? 
Engineering provides exposure to so many career opportunities and the creation of many products which can change the world, or simply make people's lives easier. It's a challenging degree but the rewards are all worth it in the end!

How to Change the World last year was such a great experience - working in interdisciplinary teams and being able to apply the engineering knowledge gained during the first two years of your degree to real world problems made the programme unforgettable. You get to feel like you are making a difference, and making an impact with your ideas.
