Participants sought for study on body image, gender roles and social media

The thin body ideal is a culturally-specific construct of beauty that is increasingly circulating around the world.

Apple This UCL dissertation project will investigate the impact of institutions like family, peers, and the media on undergraduate women in the UK and in Bhutan through surveys, interviews, and digital ethnography. 

Who can take part? 

For the UK part of the study, the researchers are looking for undergraduate students who are:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from UCL
  • Female
  • Aged between 18 and 25 
  • Born and raised in the UK

What will it involve?

This is a voluntary study that will consist of filling out one questionnaire. This should take about 20 minutes and can be done remotely.  

This data will be anonymized and used only for research purposes.

If interested, participants can also opt to participate in any of the following:

  • One interview 
  • One focus group discussion
  • Recording select social media content

This data will be pseudonymized and used only for research purposes.
