Chadwick Travelling Fellowships and Scholarships

27 November 2014

The annual opportunity for students to apply for a Chadwick Travelling Fellowship / Scholarship is now available.

Chadwick  The Chadwick Trust was set up in 1895 under the provisions of the will of Sir Edwin Chadwick to promote research into public health engineering. In line with the objectives of the Chadwick Trust, the awards made enable students to visit a selected location and to investigate and report on a current problem in the field of public health engineering, including engineering and environmental aspects relevant to water and sanitation issues.

It is envisaged that a minimum of six weeks will be spent on activities for the Fellowships or a minimum of four weeks on activities for the Scholarships. The successful candidates will then be required to submit to the Trustees a report on their activities within three months of the completion of their project.

• Application for the Fellowship is open to any current postgraduate student of UCL or the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, registered at the time the Fellowship is utilised.

• Application for the Scholarship is open to any undergraduate student at UCL registered at the time the Scholarship is utilised.

Student proposals and requests for funding from the Trust should not exceed the maximum amount of £5,000 for MPhil/PhD students, £2,500 for Masters students and £1,250 for undergraduate students. Due to the limited nature of the funds available, the final amount awarded to successful project proposals is at the discretion of the Trustees and may be less than that initially requested.

All applications and project proposals submitted to the Chadwick Trust should demonstrate how they are relevant to the aims and objectives of the Trust. Students should also demonstrate how the research is relevant and contributes to their programme of study.

The Trust is unable to consider retrospective applications.

Application forms, together with a copy of the Regulations, can be downloaded from the Chadwick Trust website at www.ucl.ac.uk/ras/acs/chadwick-trust. Alternatively, please contact Nafisa Wagley, Secretary to the Chadwick Trust (email: n.wagley@ucl.ac.uk; tel. 020 7679 8878).

Completed application forms must be received by 23.59 on Friday 13 February 2015.
