Healthy volunteers needed for transcranial magnetic stimulation study

9 October 2017

We are looking for healthy volunteers aged 18 and over to participate in a study to evaluate the reliability of threshold-tracking technique for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

brain

TMS is a non-invasive neurophysiological technique widely used in research and routine clinical practice. Mild, painless magnetic impulses are applied to the head, evoking small twitches of the hand muscles.

To be eligible you should be in good physical and mental health, have no history of seizures or any metal implants in your body (except for dental fillings).

There will be two study visits, separated by at least one week, each lasting 1-2 hours.

On the first day, we will check your eligibility to take part in the study. If you are eligible, we will perform TMS twice on the same day.

We may ask you to return at least one week later and repeat the same TMS protocol.

For the costs of time, travel and incidentals you will receive £10 per hour as reimbursement.

You can obtain further detailed information on our website or by emailing Gintaute Samustye.

This research has been reviewed and approved by UCL Ethics Committee, project number 10603/001.
