Explore Gender History with In Her Time

22 March 2018

In Her Time is UCL's new student-run website dedicated to the exploration of gender history, offering you the chance to contribute, share and learn from other students.

In Her Time

Stella Sabin and Iona Glen, both History MA students, created In Her Time as part of a UCL ChangeMakers project. Being committed to improving the student experience at UCL, they created In Her Time to give students a space to share their work and explore topics that don't always make their way onto the university syllabus.

Created by students, for students, www.InHerTimeUCL.com hosts articles and reviews crowd-sourced from the student body, as well as its very own podcast.

Are you passionate about history, equality and diversity? Get involved!

Why now?

Given the exposés across Hollywood, Westminster and the BBC, as well as the ongoing centenary celebrations of the Representation of the People Act, 2018 is the ideal time to celebrate and critique the diverse contributions of self-identifying women. Their contributions have always been important - and now people are really talking about them.

Articles, reviews and illustrations created by you

In Her Time is a space for dialogue between students beyond the seminar room. Perhaps you can relate to the frustration of writing an essay on a meaningful topic, having it go off to your marker, then realising "well, I guess that's that…"? Or maybe there's an area of gender history you would like to explore that hasn't found its way onto your syllabus yet?

Do you want to write for In Her Time? Send in a short pitch and they will help you to turn it into an article. Or do you have an artistic hand? In Her Time is looking for artists and illustrators to create visual material to accompany the online articles.

Whatever your academic background, they want to hear from you! Get in touch with the team at InHerTimeUCL@gmail.com

The In Her Time Podcast

Join Stella and Iona in their monthly podcast. In each episode they tackle a new theme or interview a different academic, writer, activist, artist or filmmaker.

Are you a PhD student or a staff member with a topic that you want to talk about or an event you want to promote? It's your golden opportunity to get in touch with InHerTimeUCL@gmail.com!

Want to get more involved?

In Her Time is in partnership with UCL ChangeMakers, and this is just the beginning. Opportunities continually open up for sustained involvement as part of the team. Send them an email expressing your interest!

Follow on Facebook and Instagram; contribute through verse and colour.
