UCLU elections: voting is open

27 February 2015

You might have noticed an explosion of banners in the Union, Portico and South Quad buildings, and the sudden proliferation of posters with lots of people's faces on.

UCLU Elections So what on Earth is happening?

It's UCLU election season of course. Voting opened at 10am on Thursday 26 February and will be available until Thursday 5 March. To make the process as easy as possible, you just need to log in to the UCLU website to cast your vote.

Why is voting important?

UCLU student officers are responsible for organising UCLU clubs and societies, as well as representing you within UCL and on a national level. They fight for improvements to your services, host social events and work to keep you informed about the big issues on campus.

This year, full time officers, in particular, will have a big say over strategic activities in the Union, so it is worth exercising your right to vote and ensure that the candidates you want representing you get elected.

There are a number of positions, such as the Women's Officer or the BME Students' Officer, in which only self-defining women or self-defining Black and Minority Ethnic students can vote. Students interested in voting for these candidates need to amend their settings on the UCLU website, and this can be done via "My Account" and selecting "Edit" to "Self-define."

Don't forget to vote and good luck to all candidates.
