Launch of the 2017 Provost's Excellence Scheme

22 June 2017

UCL is very pleased to announce the launch of the 2017 Provost's Excellence Scheme.

The scheme aims to recognise exceptional contributions (from staff of any grade) across UCL and will culminate with a ceremony later this year. It is hoped that this year's scheme will build upon the success of the inaugural event held last year. The scheme is a way of recognising outstanding contributions from staff who may sometimes get overlooked - perhaps if their specific contribution does not easily fit into UCL's other awards - teaching, enterprise or public engagement.

The nominations can come from and for any UCL employee and should go to Mark Rice, Head of Reward Policy, in the first instance. Mark will then circulate the nominations out to local areas and ask Heads of Department (or delegates if preferred) to briefly comment on the nominations. Following that Mark will send nominations to the faculty (if applicable) for further consideration, before a central UCL panel chaired by the Provost will choose the final award winners.

These awards are dedicated to specifically recognising exceptional contributions, and Mark will be able to give advice on handling individual proposals once nominations are received.  Nominations for staff in Grades 1-5 are particularly welcomed, as these were under-represented in the Scheme's first year.

More details on the scheme can be found on the UCL HR website: ucl.ac.uk/hr/provost-awards/.

Please encourage all staff to nominate anyone they feel has made an outstanding contribution. If you have any questions please email m.rice@ucl.ac.uk
