Book to attend new Prevent training session

It requires institutions to have procedures in place to prevent people being drawn into terrorism, and also for reporting concerns about anyone they fear may have been, or may be at risk of being, drawn into terrorism.

As part of our responsibilities under the Prevent duty, staff in student-facing roles and especially faculty and departmental tutors and managers are required to attend a new training session. These sessions are available to book throughout May, June and September and will be delivered by Erin Moore from the Department of Education.

We appreciate that Prevent is a controversial subject, provoking strong reactions and responses from across our community and the UK. This will be recognised within the delivery of this new training which has been designed to be balanced and provide an opportunity to discuss your concerns.

It is important that colleagues attend regular training so that we can demonstrate to the Office for Students that we are complying with the duty.
