2 June 2016

Parents And Carers Together (PACT) Network invites you to the next session as follows: Title: Language skills for bilingual children   Speaker: Dr Froso Argyri (UCL Linguistics)  Date: Tuesday 7 June 2016   Time: 1-2:30pm    Location: Lecture Theatre 309, Roberts Building (Engineering Building) *Please note that this is a repeat session of 'Bilingualism for Children' which was previously held in February* UCL is a large and international community with colleagues coming from all parts of the world.

Quad It is very common for families to speak several languages including their mother language and English language, among others. Parents play a critical role in the language development of their children and, therefore, this session is of direct relevance to them.

The aim of this talk is to provide information about linguistic and cognitive aspects of bilingualism. Dr Argyri is a mother of two and has personal experience of bilingualism. She will discuss language development of bilingual children, factors affecting bilingual language acquisition, the role of age of onset and the amount of exposure to each language, etc. She will also share useful tips/suggestions with parents to develop their children's language skills.

This is an informal session and you are welcome to bring your lunch. Please register by emailing: m.sajid@ucl.ac.uk.

We look forward to welcoming you.
