Declaration of Interests: annual return to be completed by staff

14 November 2012

UCL's Declaration of Interests policy is in place to ensure that its activities, and those of its staff and students, are, and are seen to be, conducted to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Staff are required to make an annual declaration of interests, even if it is a nil return by 31 December 2012.  An undeclared conflict of interest or absence of a return can be a serious issue.

This policy applies to all academic staff, support staff on grades 6 and above and research students employed as Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants or demonstrators.

The policy also applies to Honorary Staff and Emeritus Staff actively involved in the work of UCL. However, the broad principles of the policy apply to all staff: if a conflict of interest applies in the case of a member of staff in a category other than those specified above, this should be referred to their Head of Department.

Declarations are made via the simple-to-use online system at:  https://www.ucl.ac.uk/hr/services/doir/live/
