Potential National Rail disruption

13 May 2015

The RMT trade union members employed by Network Rail have voted in favour of taking some form of industrial action in relation to a pay dispute.

The TSSA trade union are currently balloting their members. The result of this ballot will be known on or after Friday 15 May. The time and date of any industrial action has not yet been announced nor is it known the type of action that will be taken. A minimum of seven days' notice must be given after the ballot.

Should industrial action be taken it is likely to cause significant disruption across the railway network. Network Rail and the Train Operators are working to understand the full impact and are developing contingency plans where possible.

In the event of widespread industrial action UCL will make every attempt to keep activities running, with members of staff asked to try to come in to work if practicable. If you are not able to get to work you should advise your Head of Department (or deputy or line manager). Consideration should be given to flexible working options, including working from home, where possible. Where staff cannot work from home and will be unable to get to work, a day's leave should be booked. If it is necessary to curtail access to buildings, staff will be notified to that effect.

For further updates on potential action please go to the National Rail website.
