Professor's Got Talent

Professor Vincent Walsh, (UCL Cognitive Neuroscience) will be appearing in front of millions of television viewers in the semi-final of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, 31 May.

Professor Walsh Professor Walsh is stepping away from his desk and taking the stage once again to play trumpet in London's Gay Big Band. 

The band, which consists of 20 volunteers plus drag act La Voix, will be competing against 45 other hopefuls in the semi-final to make to the final, a week on Saturday. They were picked from thousands of other acts in the heats and performed to rapturous crowds and high praise from the judges. 

The band have enjoyed success so far. The judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon have described them as 'perfect for Great Britain and the queen'. The winner of Britain's Got Talent will perform at the Royal Variety Performance and receive a £250,000 cash prize. Professor Walsh and his band need your vote. 

Professor Walsh is a Professor of Human Brain Research in UCL's Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. In his day-to-day role he leads a research group called Applied Cognitive Neuroscience (ACN). The goal of which is to use neuroscience to improve high performance in sport, high pressure decision making and advancing human brain stimulation in cognition and health. He also teaches on the UCL BASc course and on the MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience.

David Walliams described them as a 'class act'. Alesha Dixon told the band, after their rendition of standard New York, New York, 'that is how you make an impact, you're a force to be reckoned with'.

Vote for Professor Walsh and see one of UCL Psychology and Language Sciences' (PALs) finest become one of Britain's finest in the final of the competition.
