Would you like to make a positive contribution to the student experience at UCL?

25 April 2013

UCLU is currently looking for a UCL staff member to join the Trustee Board.

UCLU is the representative body of UCL students and we work to improve their student experience. Through clubs and societies, volunteering, skills development initiatives and representation we engage thousands of students every year in extra curricular activities that make a positive contribution to life at UCL and in the local community.

UCLU is a student led membership organisation but at the heart of the governance structure is the Trustee Board. Student union Trustee Boards vary from university to university, but ours is composed of 6 Sabbatical Officers, 6 elected UCL Student Trustees, 2 Trustees who are members of UCL staff, 2 UCL Alumni Trustees and an external Trustee. The Board acts as a group of critical friends to ensure that we are fit for purpose. The Board does not, however, create or amend political policy created by the students.

We are currently looking for a UCL staff member to bring experience of setting strategic direction and to impart their specialist knowledge in at least one of the following fields:

  • Performed an organisational role within a democratic or member led organisation
  • Financial management
  • Charity law
  • Commercial sector
  • HR

Although this is a non remunerated position, as a Trustee all reasonable expenses will be met.

For an informal chat about this opportunity and the level of commitment required please contact Dave Squires, General Manager at d.squires@ucl.ac.uk or 020 7679 7216.

For further details including how to apply please go to www.uclu.org/trustees.

Closing date for applications: Friday 10 May 2013.

Interviews to be held on Monday 20 May or Tuesday 21 May.
