UCL Careers encourage UCL departments to create internship opportunities for current or final year UCL students this summer

24 March 2016

UCL Careers is keen to encourage UCL departments to consider creating internship opportunities for current or final year UCL students this summer, supporting UCL's Education Strategy in response to "overwhelming feedback from students that they expect their time at university to prepare them thoroughly for the world of work.

How can an intern help my department?

Perhaps you want to develop your induction or open day marketing materials, or have a set of data you'd like analysed. If a researcher within the department is looking for practical assistance, a current student deciding whether to undertake further study at UCL maybe the perfect fit…

Internships can range in duration - usually ranging from between 4-6 weeks. They would need to be paid London Living Wage in accordance with the Internships policy set out by UCL HR. UCL Careers can provide the framework through which you can advertise an internship position and gain maximum exposure. We can do this through our in-house matching and shortlisting service - UCL Talent Bank. Students benefit from a range of learning outcomes including developing personal and professional skills in a work-based environment, as well as insight and awareness of the working world.

Contact Laura Firmin, Internships and Vacancies Officer for UCL Talent Bank via talentbank@ucl.ac.uk with a brief paragraph about what you might be able to offer a student intern and we can go from there.
