Research on mental health on campus

14 March 2013

Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) is seeking the views of staff and students on how universities can support people experiencing mental health difficulties.

In particular,  the research will examine how universities can:

  • develop an environment which encourages people to share that they are experiencing mental health difficulties and receive targeted support
  • proactively ensure that courses, work environment and conditions, facilities and services are accessible to staff and students experiencing mental health difficulties

Complete the survey - understanding adjustments: supporting staff and students experiencing mental health difficulties. [This survey is now closed]

Rex Knight, Vice-Provost (Operations) and Disability Equality Champion notes the importance of this project: "Many of us will experience mental health difficulties at some point in our lives. The availability of appropriate support is vital, and this survey will help the ECU to work with universities to ensure that staff and students feel able to seek help, and that institutions are able to respond."
