UCL participating in Earth Hour

28 March 2012

UCL will be taking part in Earth Hour on 31 March at 8.

Quad Birds eye 30pm.

Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney, where Sydney-siders were inspired to show their support for climate change action by switching lights off for one hour. From this, a global event has emerged with more and more cities getting involved in the campaign.

In 2011, Earth Hour saw hundreds of millions of people across 135 countries switch off for an hour - in doing so, sending a signal to individuals, businesses, politicians that climate change is a concern for them.

At UCL, we are taking our environmental impacts seriously and will this year be joining Earth Hour in support of action on climate change. Play your role in this by ensuring that all unnecessary lighting is switched off before you leave the office today. We want UCL to be a beacon (or not!) in this campaign.

Visit the Earth Hour website for more information.
