Chance to win an iPad with the Student Barometer

21 November 2013

UCL students are being offered the chance to win an iPad and £1,000 in cash by sharing their views on campus life in a short ten minute survey by Friday 6 December.

Student Lecture

The Student Barometer gives current students the opportunity to reflect on their time at UCL and influence the future direction of the university. In particular, the survey looks to discover what students think about the teaching they receive, the feedback they get on assessments and the support they get for pursuing future careers. It also looks to find out whether students would recommend studying at UCL to other people.

The survey results help to identify areas of success and areas that need improvement, and allows UCL to compare its performance with more than 100 British and foreign universities.

Professor Anthony Smith, Vice-Provost (Education), said: "Participation in the Student Barometer is important in helping us understand the experience for all students at UCL and to determine how we are performing compared with our competitors and how we can do better."

"Already we have listened to students' concerns about library opening hours and have now extended these to 24 hours in the Main (Wilkins) and DMS Watson (Science) libraries during term-time. Soon this extended opening will also include the summer period when our postgraduate taught students are busy with their projects and dissertation."

"We are also undertaking a major piece of work on assessment and feedback in response to student concerns about the timeliness and usefulness of feedback. I encourage all students to take part in the survey - it's good to know what is going well as well as what needs to be improved."

As a thank you for completing the questionnaire, UCL is offering the chance to win a new iPad, whilst our partners i-graduate, the company running the survey for UCL, are also offering the chance to win a £1,000 cash prize or donation to charity.

The Student Barometer should take less than ten minutes to complete. Take part by clicking the link on the Student Barometer email you received in your UCL inbox.
