Professor Graeme Reid (Chair of Science & Research Policy at UCL) has been appointed Specialist Advisor to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee for its inquiry into Life Sciences and the Industrial Strategy.

Prof Graeme Reid

The inquiry is set to consider the role of the UK life sciences sector in the government's industrial strategy. It will investigate how the government can support the sector, how NHS policies can stimulate innovation, and the forthcoming life sciences industrial strategy. It will also look at challenges facing the sector, including the impact of Brexit and making innovative new treatments available on the NHS.

Professor Reid said: "I am honoured to be invited to advise the House of Lords and hope to be able to provide insight on behalf of the scientific community more widely."

Professor Reid advised the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee during their recent inquiries into Brexit and UK Science. He is currently leading a review of Government-funded research and innovation for the Welsh Government.

The committee is currently inviting written evidence to be submitted by Friday 15 September 2017, and will begin hearing oral evidence at the inquiry in October. Please contact Sarah Chaytor, Director of Research Strategy and Policy, if you would like further information.
