UCL Friends of MSF charity run

27 March 2013

On Saturday 16th March 2013, over 300 individuals took to the paths of Regent's Park running either 5km or 10km in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).

Despite the awful weather conditions on the day itself, with typical British wind and torrential rain, the runners, volunteers and huge numbers of supporters turned up on the morning of race day, and over £10,000 has been raised in sponsorship.

Students at UCL collaborated with other Friends of MSF groups in and around London to organise the event.

UCL Friends of MSF event co-ordinator Alisha Allana (5th year medical student at UCL) said: "It was absolutely brilliant to see so many individuals run for MSF despite the awful weather conditions, and raising over £10,000 for such a great cause makes it all worthwhile."

Médecins Sans Frontières works in over 60 countries around the world. They provide emergency medical aid to the victims of war, natural disasters and epidemics. With around 28,000 local and international employees, they offer essential assistance to those who need it the most irrespective of race, religion or political affliction.
