“If you look closely, [sharks] are covered with these things called 'dermal denticles,' which I think translates into ‘skin teeth,’” said Professor Manish Tiwari (UCL Mechanical Engineering), on the unusual ‘scales’ that make up shark’s skin that help them swim by reducing drag.
