Genes for Gaucher disease may have protected Jewish people against TB

Professor Mark Thomas (UCL Division of Biosciences) suggests that as the Jewish population was previously small, one person’s genes for Gaucher disease may have been inherited by many descendants rather than causing specific advantages.
